Principals Welcome

Dear Collins Families,

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! I hope this message finds you and your family enjoying a restful and fun-filled summer. Whether you are a returning family or joining us for the first time, I want to extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to you all.

It is with great joy and excitement that I introduce myself as the new principal of Collins. I am honored to be part of this incredible community and look forward to building strong partnerships with our students, staff, and families. Together, we will continue to create a school environment where every child feels supported, challenged, and inspired to grow.

This year Collins celebrates our 75th year. This is huge! As one of the oldest schools in our district, Collins has made great strides in the community and many families have come through our doors.

This year is already shaping up to be a great one! It was great seeing you at our Early Back Event sponsored by our amazing PTA. Please join our PTA. I will also be recruiting families for our School Site Council and our African American Parent Council. Our theme for West Contra Costa is WE ARE ONE. Please consider joining these committees so that you can be one with our school.

Important Dates & Information:

The first day of school is Tuesday, August 19th, and it will be a minimum day. (The first two days of school are minimum days.)

Please be on the look out for an invite for our annual BOO HOO breakfast.

Breakfast for students will be offered beginning at 7:45 AM, and classes start promptly at 8:30 AM.

I will be notifying you weekly to inform you of what’s happening at school and updating you on important information. Parent square is the platform we use for all school communication. If you have not already downloaded the app, I encourage you to do so quickly so you don't miss any important information. The app is free and can be translated into multiple languages. Some teachers may also reach out to you through other communications.

I am thrilled to begin this journey with you and look forward to an incredible year of learning, growth, and community. Please stay tuned for additional updates in the coming days. Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or just to say hello—I look forward to meeting each of you!

With warm regards,

Denita Robbins
